Difficult time for Princes. You were born in the wrong era, as the song says! We are in the era where prices gone up. Prices have skyrocketed and procrastination reigns everywhere. Everything around us is collapsing like small pieces of DOMINO!

The effects of the pandemic, the increase in oil, the restriction of imports from China, are only some of the factors, which contributed to the increase in the cost of basic import materials, such as steel, copper and metals. A striking example of precision, construction iron, which according to statistics has increased by 44% compared to 2021. Rapid growth also prevails in the category of roofs, plasterboards, timber, bricks, aluminum, ceramics, sanitary ware, polystyrenes and their derivatives.

There is a lingering panic in the construction sector. Contractors find it difficult to complete projects for which they have signed contracts with lower prices. New couples are putting their house building plans on hold and those who wanted to freshen up their properties are putting off any kind of renovation.

In short, we are talking about war. A war, in a tested homeland, in which we feel exiled, lost and helpless, like the Little Prince in the book by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry.

We put our lives on hold and postpone every goal, because some people in charge, and society in general, tied our hands. We are full of anger, fear and sadness. Emotions that maximize our procrastination even more.

So, let’s take the Little Prince as an example and when dark clouds cover our dreams, when society unabashedly crimes against our human existence, leading us to a destructive dead end, then let’s do what they don’t expect. “Let’s postpone our procrastination!” (N. Smyrnakis). Let us become the prince of our life, however difficult it may be. 

No matter if we struggle financially, no matter if we are prevented from building the house of our dreams, no matter if society remains idle, no matter if we constantly find obstacles in front of us? Stretch the bow in a great effort of self-transcendence and maybe that way, you manage to come out ahead.

Life is a journey of knowledge and self-awareness, which if you risk and risk in it, will give you back your freedom as a prize. The more you risk your confidence and security, the more substantial the joy will be when you emerge victorious in the end.

Don’t leave the phrases “for tomorrow”, “I’ll do it later,” “we’ll continue again when prices fall’, ‘I’ll start when things are more favorable’, put a STOP to your dreams. Why; The Little Prince is an anti-war book, written in America, where the author had taken refuge after the surrender of France to Germany. This book was written in a difficult time, translated into 250 languages and managed to sell over 100 million copies. This was what made the author known to the public, because quite simply Antoine de Saint-Exupéry did not postpone his writing because there was a war or because he was exiled from his homeland. Instead, he turned this difficulty into a great advantage and managed to write a masterpiece. 

Of great importance to mention is the fact that, 30 years ago, things were more expensive than they are today. We used to buy a ceramic with inferior specifications for £30 per m2, because there was no such development and the abundance of specifications that exist today, and today we can buy a porcelain ceramic of excellent specifications for €28 per m2.

Be sure and be clear within yourself what is important to you and not to others. Say “no” to what is not important, devoting this time to what is most constructive for you.

Make your own list of priorities and then commit to doing whatever it takes to complete it, no matter how many obstacles appear along the way.

Start by doing the simplest things to boost your confidence.

Don’t wait for perfect conditions to get active. They will never exist!

Take the step you fear and keep taking it without stopping.

Once you have your structure ready, take a deep breath and visualize the obstacles that might arise during the project. For each scenario have a change of plan ready to support your project. You will get tired, you will work hard, you will spend a lot of time and energy, but in the end the result will justify you.

“It’s the time you wasted on your rose that makes your rose so important” and also remember that “what makes the desert beautiful is that somewhere it hides a well” 

Find the architect, make the plans, find the contractor, find the decorator, visit the pottery and sanitary ware store, then find the source to get resources from. As hard as it is, don’t put off your dream.

We lost 3 years of our lives because of the corona virus, let’s not allow them to deprive us of so much more!
